1. Hamish Linklater

Hamish Linklater was born on July 7, 1976, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, USA. However, he spent a significant portion of his childhood in Carpentaria, Queensland, Australia. He is an American actor known for his performances in both theater and television shows. Linklater has appeared in numerous well-known productions, such as "The Big Short" and "Legion."

2. Jessica Watson

Jessica Watson is an Australian sailor and adventurer who became the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop, and unassisted around the world at the age of 16. She was born on May 18, 1993, in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and grew up in Carpentaria. Watson's incredible achievement earned her widespread recognition and she has since become a prominent figure in the sailing community.

3. Jimmy Little

Jimmy Little, born James Oswald Little on March 1, 1937, in Cummeragunja, New South Wales, Australia, was an Australian Aboriginal musician, actor, and teacher. Although not born in Carpentaria, he was strongly associated with the area as he spent a considerable part of his childhood in Burketown, Queensland, which is located in the Carpentaria region. Jimmy Little's music career spanned over six decades, and he was known for his unique blend of country, folk, and Aboriginal music.

4. Neville Bonner

Neville Bonner was the first Aboriginal Australian to become a member of the Parliament of Australia. He was born on March 28, 1922, in Ukerebagh Island, Tweed Heads, New South Wales, Australia. Bonner spent his early years in the Carpentaria region and went on to become a significant figure in Australian politics. He served as a senator for Queensland from 1971 to 1983, advocating for Aboriginal rights and welfare.

5. Albert Namatjira

Albert Namatjira, born Elea Namatjira on July 28, 1902, in a community near Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, was an Australian Aboriginal artist. Although not directly from Carpentaria, Namatjira's work captured the landscapes of central Australia, which encompasses the Carpentaria region. He gained international recognition for his watercolor paintings of the Australian Outback and became one of the most famous Indigenous artists in Australian history.

6. Harold Thomas

Harold Thomas, an Australian Aboriginal artist, is best known for creating the iconic Aboriginal flag. He was born in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. While not specifically from Carpentaria, his flag has become a widely recognized symbol of Aboriginal pride and identity throughout Australia, including within the Carpentaria region.

7. Joe Geia

Joe Geia, born on December 9, 1956, in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia, is an Indigenous Australian musician and singer-songwriter. He is known for his powerful music that reflects his Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. Although not directly connected to Carpentaria, his music resonates with many Indigenous communities in Queensland, including within the Carpentaria region.
